The Language Resource Centre at Newcastle University has a small team in place, which will be available from Mid-January for virtual school visits, synchronous and asynchronous to promote language learning, and inter-cultural activities in line with the Routes into Languages aims. Year 9: Roadshows
Students and staff from Northumbria University visit ‘hub’ schools to present their diverse and fun introduction to continued language learning. They aim to give Key Stage 3 linguists a motivational boost through the exciting range of Q&A sessions, language tasters, quizzes, and a take-home parent/pupil pack.

A 30 minute German challenge puts your pupils to the test. First, second, third place receive prizes as do the best team. Of course, this is all in the welcoming and friendly atmosphere at Newcastle University.

Tyneside Cinema German Film Day - Year 12

Using Wortmann's 2003 film Das Wunder von Bern (The Miracle from Bern) as a focus , we will address themes including family, relationships, looking in particular at the interests of young people in popular culture. The film will also be used as a basis for speaking and listening exercises, discussion and role-play, providing lots of opportunities to practice your German. Resources are provided beforehand for the school to refer to and then to build on after this event. Led by Dr Tobias Hochscherf, Northumbria University.

Year 10 Linguacast 12th February - FULLY BOOKED

Pupils will work with native speakers of their target language to write
and produce their own storyboards. They'll join us in the award winning
Open Access Centre of Newcastle University to use the latest on-line
resources and SANAKO language labs.
Other activities include a campus tour, Q&A sessions with student
ambassadors and a taster session in a new language.
