Promoting the take-up of languages and student mobility

The Language Resource Centre at Newcastle University has a small team in place, which will be available from Mid-January for virtual school visits, synchronous and asynchronous to promote language learning, and inter-cultural activities in line with the Routes into Languages aims. Yr 12 AS - Level Masterclass 17th July (Durham)

A languages session specially designed for AS students going into Year 13. Students receive one hour’s tuition in their A2 language (French, German, or Spanish), followed by one-hour taster in a new language with a choice that includes Arabic, Italian, or Russian, as well as a ‘Why Study Languages’ discussion. You will need to state your preference of taster when booking and the sessions are normally limited to 15 pupils per session.

This is a vibrant introduction to the merits of MFL for Year 8 pupils. This event takes place just before the Summer Holidays on Northumbria Campus and gives pupils a chance to quiz students face-to-face, to use on-line learning games, as well as two language taster sessions including Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Italian.
