Mike Kelly is a specialist in modern French culture and society, especially the history of ideas and Franco-British cultural relations. He plays a leading role in developing public policy on languages and cultural diversity, in the UK and across Europe. He is Director of the LLAS Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies, Hon. Secretary of the European Language Council and Secretary for Speak to the Future, the national campaign for languages. He also currently head of Modern Languages at the University of Southampton.
