HSBC/BRITISH COUNCIL MANDARIN CHINESE SPEAKING COMPETITION

Date:
Tuesday, 27 September, 2011 - 01:00 to Friday, 14 October, 2011 - 01:00
Region:
Wales / Cymru

Does your school teach Mandarin Chinese? Enter your students into the HSBC/British Council Mandarin Chinese Speaking Competition and they could be heading off to Beijing in April 2012!

The competition, with Individual Language Ability and Group Performance sections, is for UK, Channel Island and Isle of Man secondary school, sixth form and FE college students who are non-native speaking learners of Mandarin Chinese.

Regional heats will take place in Newcastle on 6 December and in London on 16 December 2011 and the final will be held at the British Museum in London on 10 February 2012. The prize is a week long cultural visit to Beijing in April 2012 for the winning students and the teacher from the school of the winning group.

We would be delighted to have a broad range of schools enter from across the UK, and new school entrants are very welcome, even if you have only recently started to teach Mandarin. As well as the chance for your student(s) to win the prize, entering the competition is a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate your school’s commitment to the teaching and learning of Mandarin.

Full entry details and terms and conditions are at www.britishcouncil.org/schoolpartnerships-chinese-speaking-competition.htm

The closing date for entries is Thursday 13 October 2011.
