Mother Tongue Other Tongue is a celebration of young people’s poetic writing reflecting different languages they speak as a first language or at home, or that are learning. We welcome submissions from young people aged 7-18 in schools and communities across the North East. With a music and lively performances from a cast from Spain, Mexico, Nicaragua, USA and UK, this is a vibrant adaptation of Laura Esquival’s magical book about love, food and the Mexican Revolution

“Let’s speak Geordie” – an introduction to the Geordie dialect.

A ‘canny’ opportunity for you to practise some Geordie phrases in this live, fun, interactive workshop.  It is designed for people whose mother tongue is not English, to help you get to grips with the local Geordie dialect. This includes: international students, people from diverse communities, community schools and community colleges, members of arts and culture organisations, who come from different countries.
