As part of our commitment to the Routes into Languages initiative we would like to invite you to our third annual event for Y12 students studying modern foreign languages.

The event will take place on Monday 28th June from 10am to 2pm in the Palmer Building at the University of Reading, Whiteknights Campus.

The morning session will consist of language activities at a level appropriate for post-AS students led by PGCE trainees from the Institute of Education, including taster sessions for beginners to encourage your students to think about the possibility of studying an additional language as part of a degree. Here at the University of Reading we now offer degree courses for beginners in both German and Italian.

In the afternoon we will have presentations and workshops led by colleagues from the School of Languages and European Studies. Our Careers Advisory Service will also be taking part, looking at careers with languages and also focusing on the transferable skills that studying languages provides.

Over lunch there will be an opportunity for your students to see the University campus and to talk to recent graduates about their experiences, and for you to meet members of the School of Languages and European Studies.

Places will be limited, so if you are interested in the event, we would be grateful for a quick email reply giving an indication of how many students you hope to bring, and the languages they are currently studying.

Please complete this more detailed booking form when your students have confirmed their availability.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

With best wishes,

Barbara King
