Urdu Language and Culture
An Introductory Course for Beginners

Wednesday 12th May - Wednesday 30th June from 18.00 - 19.30 p.m.

Room 3.06, Sandra Burslem Building, All Saints Campus

This eight-week course is for absolute beginners and aims to give students a basic knowledge of the Urdu language. In order to develop their communicative skills, students will engage in pair-work and group-work activities, and will have the opportunity to listen to and utilise a range of adapted and authentic materials.

Additionally, language and culture will be explored through film, song and poetry.

The course will incorporate visits to the local Urdu-speaking community in Manchester to give students the opportunity to practise their linguistic skills in real-life situations and to give them an insight into Pakistani traditions and culture.

1 ½ hours per week for eight weeks (12 hrs in total)

Course fee: £75.00

Deadline for enrolment: Tuesday 4th May 2010

Refunds and Cancellations
Cancellations are permitted up to 10 days before the start of a course, subject to a £25 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 10 days before the start of a course unless we are able to fill the place with another student. Inability to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments does not entitle you to a refund; however in such cases we will consider all the circumstances and take such action as we consider to be fair and reasonable.

Cancellation by us
All courses have minimum attendance levels and may be subject to cancellation in situations where insufficient bookings are received. Whilst we make every effort to avoid this situation, should it arise you will be entitled to a full refund of any fees paid or have the option to transfer onto a different course. We will not be held liable however for any other losses incurred as a consequence.
In the unlikely circumstances that an individual class has to be postponed due to staff illness or any other reason for which we are responsible, we will make every reasonable effort to reschedule or add the missed hours onto the remaining classes in the course. Where this causes difficulty, you are encouraged to contact us to discuss options.
