We don't always realise how important writing skills are to the activities of translation. Aspiring translators often focus on source-language competence (which is of course very important!) at the expense of developing their writing expertise in their target language. This event seeks to showcase the importance of writing skills in the different domains of translation, such as technical writing, copywriting, multilingual document production, creative writing. The event will also address the many other kinds of writing that translators do, such as pre- and post-editing, gist translation, abstracting and localisation. The event will combine presentations by professional translators and translation scholars with hands-on writing workshops. For further information on the conference please contact the conference organiser Ian Kemble at ian.kemble@port.ac.uk.
