World Languages and the EBacc: the importance of supporting languages in the 21st Century school curriculum

A free workshop for:
• Secondary Leaders and Curriculum Planners
• Language teachers in Secondary Schools
• Community Language teachers in Supplementary Schools

This is an opportunity for teachers, leaders and planners to reflect on the current situation in education and on the changes that might affect schools directly, as well as to give a considered and reflective approach to forward planning and evaluation. The day will be led by colleagues from Routes into Languages and Links into Languages.

 

Programme: 

3.00-3.30pm - Arrival and Registration with Tea, Coffee & Cakes

3.30-3.45pm - Welcome and Introduction: Routes into Languages
A look at the work of Routes into Languages, what resources we have produced, what we can offer teachers and how to support languages in schools.

How foreign language films can support language teaching and intercultural understanding.

4.00 – 4.30pm - eTwinning and British Council Opportunities - bringing the world into your classroom
A case study will be presented by an eTwinning teacher ambassador showing eTwinning and other British Council programmes.

4.30-5.00pm - The EBacc and Languages. How community languages can support the EBacc agenda.
