Entre les murs (The Class)

Suitable for AS/A2 Level

Using Laurent Cantet's prize-winning hit film Entre les murs/The Class (2008, Cert. 12A) as a focus text, this event addresses contemporary French culture and society as well as issues close to the heart of all students and teachers! The film was released in 2008 to immense critical acclaim and drew in large audiences both in France and internationally. It later received an Oscar nomination and it became the first French film in 21 years to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film will also be used as a basis for speaking and listening exercises, discussion and role-play, providing loads of opportunities to get your students speaking French!

Resources are provided for both pre-and post-event activities.

Led by: Dr Sarah Leahy, School of Modern Languages, Newcastle University.

Tickets are £6.00 per student, with one teacher FREE for every ten students.
