Win a chance to perform in the L Factor Festival* and take part in a unique music workshop!

 

Between September 2013 and July 2014, Capital L will be holding a languages and music competition aimed at London’s secondary school students aged between 14 and 19 years old: “The Language Factor Song Competition”.

Entries should:

  • consist of an original song written by the young performers in any language other than English.
  • be submitted as a DVD video of the young people performing the song. The quality of the video will not be judged.
  • last no longer than two minutes.
  • be accompanied by a sheet with the full lyrics in the original language and translated into English.
  • be submitted by post by 11th April 2014. Please see the competition guidelines for submission details. For a copy of the submission form, see below.

 

There will be two age categories for the competition: 

a. 14-16 years old (years 9-11)
b. 17-19 years old (years 12 & 13)

 

We strongly encourage schools to make this a cross-curricular activity between music and languages departments. For more information on the competition rules, please see the document 'L Factor Competition Guidelines', which will be uploaded in September 2013. 

 

  • Registration must take place via schools.
  • Teachers and pupils will be offered the s  upport of Music Mentors   to help with the various aspects of the activity, including song composition and performance techniques.

*The L Factor Festival will take place in July 2014 at SOAS Brunei Gallery Theatre. Teachers, parents and classmates will be welcome. All shortlisted songs will be uploaded onto a private YouTube page.
