Three actresses play both the male and female roles in David Lescot’s heart-warming adolescent drama about the challenges of school, friendships and growing up.

J’ai Trop Peur was commissioned by the Theatre de la Villa and has toured extensively throughout France. This show will be in French with English subtitles.

Programme:

I’m ten and a half years old. It’s my last year before year seven, and everyone knows that year seven is an absolute nightmare. So, I’m not doing well. I mean, really not well. And I’m scared, so scared.

We are spending the summer, as we always do, by the sea in Quiberon and I meet this fourteen year-old called Francis. That’s when I realised that I had been wrong all along about year seven: according to Francis, it was worse – infinitely worse – than I thought it was. It’s more like the apocalypse, like the end of the world.

So, it’s decided – I’m not going, not ever. The only problem is, is that the days are flying by faster and faster and I need to come up with an idea really soon.
