The Durham University strand of Routes into Languages North East is proud to advertise a special Japanese language and culture day for Year 9 pupils in partnership with the world-famous Oriental Museum in Durham on Friday 26th February 2016, to explore where learning an less-commonly taught language can take you in additional to more commonly known languages.
The day, which will begin at 10 am and end at roughly 3 pm (times can be slightly changed depending on school requirements), will feature:
* An introduction to the Japanese collection at the Oriental Museum in Durham University
* A Japanese language taster session
* A Haiku poetry workshop (in English)
and additional related events and talks.
Places are highly limited and will be allocated on a first come - first serve basis.
The event is suitable to any students currently studying any language at KS3 - no prior knowledge of Japanese is required. Small groups are encouraged to book places and there will most likely be a mix of students from different schools attending the event. Please be aware that a minimum number applies overall for the event to run.
