Routes into Languages South is proud to present a new award for budding linguists! The Gold Award for Languages is a three-part activity which pupils can work to complete throughout the year. The following challenges must be completed to achieve the award:

  • Work Experience Challenge - pupils must complete a languages-related work experience placement (which can be tied into the usual work experience programme in your school).
  • Community Challenge - pupils must take part in a community challenge involving languages. Many have found that working with local primary schools has provided them with an opportunity to complete this part of the challenge and in the past pupils have planned and delivered lessons.
  • Personal Challenge - pupils must also complete a personal challenge. This can be anything from taking part in a Languages Day at school or an exchange visit or trip abroad.

Pupils can take part in the award independently, or as part of the Trident Skills for Life scheme or the Foreign Language Leaders Award.

In order to document their progress, pupils will need to complete the European Languages Portfolio. Once this has been filled out, teachers can sign the certification form which will then allow pupils to receive the Gold Award (awarded by Routes into Languages South).

For more information about the Gold Award for Languages, a briefing pack is available to download (see below). If you have any further questions or would like to sign up for this activity, please follow the registration link below.
