The new Routes into Languages website is currently in development and will be launching in the new year!

Promoting the take-up of languages and student mobility

Language learning and work placements for students of other subjects

The aim of thematic strand is to produce a package of materials (both electronic and hard copy) aimed at students and teachers/lecturers in schools/universities to promote the uptake of study time spent abroad as part of a main programme of study. The idea behind the materials is that, although they are located at specific institutions, the materials are generic and could be used by any institution in the UK to promote study time abroad. The document currently in production (provisionally entitled Student Voices) is a working document which aims to be completed by July 2016. The project is a collaborative venture between the universities of Brighton, Aston and thirdyearabroad.com. Two case studies have so far been documented, one in Alcalá de Henares in Spain and the other at the University of Heidelberg in Germany. A French case study is currently underway with the resultant documentation due to be completed by September 2015. Funding for the production of these case studies has been granted to date by Santander, the University of Brighton’s Springboard alumni programme, as well as Routes South. The materials collated include a short film set in Heidelberg, audio interviews with relevant students and hard copy/electronic documentation.
