What's happening in Yorkshire and The Humber?

The Yorkshire & The Humber Consortium brings together a range of schools, colleges and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in addition to The Regional Language Network Yorkshire & The Humber,  to promote, increase and widen participation in language learning.

Activities and events

  Regional activities include:

  • Assesment of specific barriers to further participation in language learning
  • Student Ambassadors from the region's HEIs visiting schools and colleges
  • Sessions and workshops for teachers
  • Online learning schemes
  • A world café allowing students to practise their foreign language with native speakers
  • Language taster sessions
  • Workshops on cultural awareness
  • Languages and careers events supported by the business community (Business Language Champions Scheme)
  • Projects to integrate languages with other curriculum subjects
  • The creation of an Interactive Map
