Student Ambassadors!

Student Ambassadors play a key role in the Routes into Languages project. Student Ambassadors have the opportunity to visit schools in their region, and take part in language learning activities with students, as well as providing language support. Student Ambassadors are outgoing, motivated members of the team, who not only provide support for the project, but benefit from it too! As well as helping to build confidence, the work that Ambassadors undertake looks great on your C.V, and you will receive a certificate as proof of your taking part.

Student Ambassadors are either students from the UK studying for either a single or joint honours degree in a language/s, take language modules in addition to their degree or they are foreign students exchange students. Our Ambassadors cover a wide variety of languages including: French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Russian, Polish and many more!!

Roles of Language Student Ambassadors:

  • Weekly visits to secondary schools / FE colleges to assist with
    Year 10-13 language classes
  • Cultural presentations in schools and colleges
  • Provide language taster sessions during school events
  • Assist with the delivery of Going Global and 6th Form revision days
  • Provide campus tours
  • Work on the Online Tandem Learning scheme
  • Assist with Open Days

Here are some quotes from our previous Ambassadors, detailing how they felt about their experiences.

"It is an extraordinary programme because it gives you the opportunity
to work temporarily in a school."
- English Language & Literature/Student Ambassador

"If you want to be a language teacher, it is a great experience. If not, it is
also a fantastic activity to include in your CV!"
- Student Ambassador

"I have learnt that being a teacher (and a student ambassador) is very cool,
we can transfer our knowledge to other students and have a relationship
more friendly than professional."
- Student Ambassador

"I would recommend other students to do the scheme in the future because it
is a very rewarding experience, for the students who are helped and for
the student ambassador."
- BA in Business/Student Ambassador

"Next year I will be starting a Graduate Teacher Programme and the experience
that I gained in schools this year will prove to be very valuable. I gained experience
teaching languages and working with the current national curriculum."
