Government funded initiative to widen participation in Higher Education, focusing on young people from disadvantaged social and economic backgrounds, ethnic minorities and people with disabilities.  Aimhigher aims to raise attainment and aspirations of potential Higher Education students and strengthen progression routes into Higher Education via vocational courses.

The European Commission fosters and promotes language learning at all levels, whilst also promoting multilingualism to preserve the linguistic diversity of Europe and to link to other cultures.  In the main, this is achieved via the Lifelong Learning Programme and by means of policy instruments.
