Routes into Languages has funded fourteen projects in all
Every region in England has a consortium or group of universities working in partnership with other stakeholders, local colleges and schools, and Aimhigher, in order to widen participation in language learning from Key Stage 4 onwards.
Three research projects are due to publish their results in 2008 and these are expected to inform the work of the nine regional consortia.
There are also two National Networks, one for Translation and one for Interpreting. These networks will promote professional careers and work with the regional consortia where appropriate to promote career paths to students studying several languages, or to students interested in expanding into this field after university.
