Call for tenders for research project on Translation and Interpreting for the Public Services (PSIT): As part of Routes into Languages continuation work, a research project will be funded to investigate issues in the following areas:

  • Teaching provision in Interpreting and Translation for the Public Services in higher education in England
  • The role of HE in supporting the profession and the sector more broadly

‘Why Study Languages’ 2012 calendar now available to order: Funded by JISC, 2012 is the fourth year that the popular ‘Why Study Languages?’ calendar has been produced.  The calendar is available for FREE, with a charge of £3.50 for postage and packing. Funding from the JISC has made this possible.  To place your order please click here.

LLAS conference: CALL FOR PAPERS: Sustaining a Global Society: Languages of the Wider World.  29 - 30 March 2011, SOAS, London.  Languages of the Wider World which aims to bring together scholars, teachers and postgraduate students working with or having an interest in languages which are underrepresented in the education system in the UK, including minority, endangered and heritage languages as well as languages of countries with emerging economies.  If you are interested in either submitting a paper or attending this event, please click here.  Submission deadline date: today 12/12/11.

Student Ambassador National Training events: Thank you to all the Student Ambassadors and speakers who attended the national training events both in Cardiff on Saturday 12th November and in London on Saturday 18th November.  It was wonderful to welcome so many ambassadors from around Wales and England and to have such engaging presenters.

ASCL Annual Conference Exhibition, March 2012: Routes will be exhibiting at this event, so do come and say hello to us on stand 45.
