Congratulations to the staff and pupils at Hummersknott School and Language College in Darlington, who have recently been awarded the European Award for Languages.
The European Award for Languages is a Europe-wide initiative supported by the European Commission and co-ordinated in the United Kingdom by CILT. The award recognises creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students and make the best of available resources.
Hummersknott earned this award through their work with their partner schools in Germany and Russia. Their project this year was based around the theme of 'Our Heritage' and encompassed the heritages of the UK, Germany and Russia. Several students presented to the award's judging panel in Bristol, where they also received the German Embassy Language Prize.
Congratulations from everyone at Routes into Languages North East.
